Military Benefits
The Army Reserve offers many benefits to Service members and their families. These benefits include limited access to recreational facilities and discount shopping through AAFES. During a deployment or active duty, the soldier and his family gain additional benefits such as Medical and Dental Insurance.
Your benefits are determined by your sponsor’s status (inactive, active or retired) and length of duty. For example, Drill Weekends would be considered Inactive Duty Training, but Annual Training (AT) is considered Active Duty. While there are few differences between Drill Weekend and Annual Training benefits, the big upgrade occurs when the sponsor is assigned to active duty for more than 30 days. At that time, not only the soldier but his or her family also qualify for medical benefits.
